ABOUT THE PROGRAM
StepFit Chico is intended to promote physical activity
among Chico children through the use of pedometers, resulting in a healthier
child population. StepFit Chico is a project of Chico
Rotary Club and other community partners.
A priority of Rotary International during this, our
centennial year, is promoting worldwide health. Reflecting this priority,
Chico Rotary Club’s theme during 2004-2005 is
Partnering To Build A Healthy Community and A Healthy World. We believe
StepFit Chico is the best possible way to express our
theme.
More children and youth are physically inactive. Combined with high-calorie
eating, the result is a marked increase in childhood obesity—a
“modern epidemic.” StepFit Chico is designed
to encourage Chico children and youth (and adults who influence them)
to move more each day. The goal is 12,000 or more steps per day for
children and 10,000 or more steps per day for adults.

We invite you to join us. You can wear a pedometer yourself—as a
child, a teenager, or an adult who influences them. If you are a parent,
you can encourage your child, teenager, or other family members to wear
one. Your organization or business can partner with Chico Rotary
Club in helping with this effort.
StepFit Chico can help Chico become a healthier community
with more active children.
We invite you to partner with us!
